VICTORY TO VICTORY CHURCH DAILY DEVOTIONAL

April 1 through May 31, 2017

April 1

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. Romans 12:12 (NIV)

Determine in your heart and mind “I’m not going to be depressed because my business hasn’t grown as I wanted it to. “Or, “I refuse to lose heart merely because my child is not doing right. No, I’m going to stay in peace, trusting God, knowing that at the right time, God is going to turn it around and use it to my advantage.” That’s an incredibly liberating way to live.

April 2

It is good to praise the LORD and make music to your name, O Most High …

Psalm 92:1 (NIV)

I cannot remember one time I ever saw my grandmother upset, frustrated, stressed out, or worried. Even when things didn’t go her way, her attitude was, “I’m not going to worry about it. I know that everything is going to be all right.” One time, my grandparents came over to our house for Thanksgiving dinner, and my grandmother forgot the turkey – the main dish. But it did not ruin her day. It did mine, but not hers. She stayed in peace. She just laughed and said “Can you believe I did that? Nothing took away her song. No wonder she lived a long, healthy life. She was always making melody in her heart unto God.

April 3

For the sake his great name the LORD will not reject his people, because the LORD was pleased to make you his own. 1 Samuel 12:22 (NIV)

Don’t listen to voices that are pulling you down. You may not look like you stepped out of a fashion magazine, but I can tell you this: You were made in the image of Almighty God. You will be amazed at how much more you enjoy your life and how much better you feel about you if you’ll learn to talk to yourself in a positive manner.

April 4

We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 (NIV)

Change the way you speak about yourself and you can change your life.

April 5

Since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.

2 Corinthians 7:1 (NIV)

It’s much better to develop good habits right now. Look at the way you live and ask, “Why am I doing what I’m doing? Is that something that’s been passed down to me by my family? Is this a good habit? Is it helping me become a better person?” If, in your analysis, you discover some habits that are not productive or profitable, dare to make the changes that will help you to replace them. Make sure that you’re not allowing anything but God to master you.

April 6

His God instructs him and teaches him the right way.  Isaiah 28:23 (AMP)

Our children are not perfect. They make mistakes, but we should take joy in teaching them, training them, and helping them come up higher. That’s the way God is with us. He loves unconditionally.

April 7

I took you from the ends of the earth, from its farthest corners I called you. I said, “You are my servant”; I have chosen you and have not rejected you. So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.  Isaiah 41:9-10 (NIV)

Nothing that you’ve done is too much for the mercy of God.

April 8

I said to the LORD, “You are my Lord; apart from you I have no good thing.”

Psalm 16:2 (NIV)

What does it mean to become a better you? First, you understand that God wants you to become all that He created you to be. Second, it is imperative that you realize that God will do His part, but you must do your part as well. To become a better you, you must:

Keep pressing forward.

Be positive toward yourself.

Develop better relationships.

Form better habits.

Embrace the place where you are.

Develop your inner life.

Stay passionate about life.

April 9

So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; make and female he created them.  Genesis 1:27 (NIV)

You have a responsibility to keep yourself healthy and whole. You have a gift. God has entrusted you with His talents, with His dreams. And it may be painful, but the best thing you can do is get away from somebody who is a constant drag on your spirit. Don’t allow somebody to treat you that way. You are extremely valuable. You are made in the image of Almighty God.

April 10

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving present your requests to God.  Philippians 4:6 (NIV)

Before you start your busy day, take a few minutes to speak blessings over your life. You may prefer to write the statements, so you can have a record of them. Make a list of your dreams, goals aspirations, as well as the areas you want to improve, the things you want to see changed. Always make sure you can back it up with God’s Word. Then get alone with God, and take a few minutes every day to declare good things over your life. Remember, it’s not enough to read it or merely think about it. Something supernatural happens when we speak it out. That’s how we give life to our faith.

April 11

Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins.

1Peter 4:8 (NIV)

No two people are completely compatible. We have to learn to become one. That means we may have to make sacrifices; we may have to overlook some things. We must be willing to compromise for the good of the relationship.

April 12

For I have come to have much joy and comfort in your love, because the hearts of the saints have been refreshed through you , brother.

Philemon 1:7 (NASB)

Learn to celebrate other people’s victories. Let their success inspire you. Know that if God did something so marvelous for them, He can certainly do it for you.

April 13

For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Luke 12:34 (NIV)

I heard somebody say the wealthiest place on earth is not Fort Knox or the Middle Eastern oil fields. Nor is it the gold and diamond mines in South Africa. Ironically, the wealthiest places on earth are the cemeteries because lying in those graves are all kinds of dreams and desires that will never be started and relationships that were never formed. Sadly, the incredible power of potential is lying in those graves.

April 14

Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him … Psalm 37:7 (NIV)

Thank God, He knows what’s best for us. Thank God that He’s merciful and he doesn’t always give us our way. I’ve learned that when my prayers aren’t happening as fast as I would like, that either means that God is protecting me from danger up ahead, it’s not the right time, or God has something better in store.

April 15

Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts. 1 Chronicles 16:9 (NIV)

It’s interesting how little children become invigorated if you put on some good music. They start swaying, dancing, and clapping. It comes naturally to them because God has put a song in their hearts. In the same way, God has put rhythm in every one of us. Too often, we allow the pressures of life to weigh us down. We had his song when we were children. We were happy, carefree, excited about life. But over time, we’ve developed new habits; being sour, dragging through the day, not really excited about life. We need to rediscover childlike faith and when we do, we will also discover the song within us.

April 16

You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

Ephesians 4:22-24 (NIV)

We attract what we continually think about.

April 17

Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name. Bring an offering and come before him; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness. 1 Chronicles 16:29 (NIV)

Maybe God has done great things in your life. He’s taken you further than you could dream. He’s brought great people into your life. He’s opened up great doors. Don’t get so accustomed to those things that they don’t excite you anymore. Choose to remain passionate, living every day with enthusiasm.

April 18

For GOD alone my soul waits in silence; from Him comes my salvation.  Psalm 62:1 (AMP)

We need to listen to the still, small voice. God knows what’s best for us.

April 19

To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless…

2 Samuel 22:26 (NIV)

I will look for glimpses of God’s goodness in the little things of my life. I will recognize His blessings in nature, and I will be more aware of His work in the ordinary areas of life – a kind word from a stranger, a rainbow in the sky, a bird perched on my windowsill, a flower blooming in a field.

April 20

And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 (NIV)

You don’t have to figure everything out. You may not know what your future holds, but as long as you know who holds your future, you’re going to be okay. God has been working behind the scenes in your life over the years.

April 21

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.  Philippians 3:12 (NIV)

Thank God for all that He has done for you. But be careful: Sometimes when you are enjoying life, it is easy to become complacent, to get satisfied and think, “Yes, God’s been good to me. I can’t complain. I’ve achieved my goals; I’ve reached my limits.” God never performs His greatest feats in your yesterdays.

April 22

That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:10 (NIV)

When my father went to be with the Lord, I knew that I was supposed to step up. Although I had never preached and had never been to seminary, I said, “God, I’m not going to look at what I don’t have. I’m looking unto you. I know in my weakness, you show up the strongest.” With that step of faith, god has taken me places I never dreamed of. He can do the same for you. You have incredible potential within you- much more than you may realize. God is not limited to the laws of nature. He can do what human beings cannot. The key is to get your eyes off your problems and onto your God.

April 23

When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: god has made the one as well as the other … Ecclesiastes 7:14 (NIV)

Your destiny is not tied to the people who walk away from you.

April 24

How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.

1 John 3:1 (NIV)

Sometimes you hear people say, “Well, he’s just got good genes. He just comes from good stock.” Let me tell you, you come from superior stock. God brought you out of His best.

April 25

Wisdom strengthens a wise man more than ten rulers who are in a city.

Ecclesiastes 7:19 (NASB)

I acknowledge that God has me right where I am for a reason. He is directing my steps; I’m where I am supposed to be and even if it is not a good place, God is giving me the strength to be here, and I know there will be good days ahead. God has me in the palm of His hand and He will protect me and guide me to His best. Today I choose to be a positive influence on someone else by the way I handle my situation.

April 26

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the LORD, because you know that your labor in the LORD is not in vain.

1 Corinthians 15:58 (NIV)

You may not have yet stepped into your divine destiny. You’re still doing many things for which you have little passion and no enthusiasm. It is time to become a better you. Certainly, you can’t just snap your fingers and change careers, but at least examine your life and be aware of how you’re spending your time. Are you pursuing your passion? Are you doing what you are good at naturally? If no, why don’t you make some changes? Time is short. Find one thing that you’re passionate about and start giving yourself to it. And God will lead you one step at a time.

April 27

Now about food offered to idols: of course we know that all of us posses knowledge [concerning these matters. Yet mere] knowledge causes people to be puffed up (to bear themselves loftily and be proud), but love (affection and goodwill and benevolence) edifies and builds up and encourages one to grow [to his full stature]. 1 Corinthians 8:1 (AMP)

The Bible says in First Corinthians 8, verse 1, that love encourages people to grow to their full stature. When you believe the best in people, you help to bring the best out of them.

April 28

The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Isaiah 58:11 (NIV)

If we will do our part and take a strong stand for our families, God will do His part. He’ll help us to have great marriages and great relationships with our parents and children.

April 29

Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves.

Romans 12:10 (NIV)

When we correct people, we should never belittle them or make them feel insignificant. At the office don’t have the attitude, “How could you come up with that? Whose lousy idea was this? Instead, do your best to find the good in every suggestion, even if you can’t use it.

April 30

A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.

Proverbs 22:9 (NIV)

If I meet other people’s needs, God will meet mine.

May 1

To those who by persistence in doing good seek glory, honor and immortality, He will give eternal life. Romans 2:7 (NIV)

Don’t stay stuck in bad habits. Make a decision that you are going to develop better habits starting today.  To change, you must be consistent. You have to do it day in and day out.

You need to have a “no exceptions” policy. That means no matter how you feel, no matter how much you want to go back to your old ways, you’re going to stick with your new plan. No exceptions!

And look forward to reaping a new life!

May 2, 2017

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5,6 (NIV)

When your plans don’t work out, don’t get negative and sour. Don’t start complaining, “I can’t believe this is happening to me. God, I just can’t afford this delay.” God may be protecting you from an accident. How do you know God has not allowed that delay so you can meet somebody He really wants you to know? Learn to go with the flow. Don’t get upset and let minor interruptions steal your joy.  Trust Him!

May 3, 2017

Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the LORD. Romans 12:11 (NIV)

Never let unwarranted criticism create undue stress in your life. Continue to do what God has called you to do!  Stay excited about the things of God and what He has in store for you!

May 4, 2017

Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 (NIV)

It is liberating to understand that you don’t have to keep everybody happy. More important, if you live your life just trying to please people, you will never be able to fulfill your God-given destiny.  So hunger after God, thirst for God and watch Himwork!

May 5, 2017

Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:4 (NIV)

Sometimes we pray, “God, you’ve got to get me out of this situation today. I can’t stand it any longer. If it goes on another week, I’m not going to make it.” But a better way to pray is, “Father, please give me the strength to go through this with a good attitude. Help me to keep my joy. Help me to keep my peace.” Our circumstances are not going to change until we change!

May 6, 2017

If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. Galatians 3:29 (NIV)

This scripture means we can all experience the blessings of Abraham. If you study Abraham’s record, you’ll discover that he was prosperous, healthy, and lived a long, productive life. Even though he didn’t always make the best choices, he enjoyed God’s blessings and favor and so can we!

May 7, 2017

Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom. Psalm 90:12 (NIV)

Get up every morning saying, “Father, I thank You that right now You are working in my life. I thank You that right now I’m getting better. Right now things are changing in my favor.” Stay in the now, faith is always in the present!

May 8, 2017

My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken.  Psalm 62:1, 2 (NIV)

Once we acknowledge that God is our Source, that He is our All in All, we can rest and be sure that we will never be shaken.  Be confident!  Be bold! We represent Almighty God! Let's learn to walk tall!

May 9, 2017

He holds victory in store for the upright, He is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for He guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones. Proverbs 2:7, 8 (NIV)

When God puts a dream in your heart, it may look impossible in the natural. Every voice may tell you it will never happen. “You’ll never break that addition. You’ll never accomplish your dreams. You’ll never be happy.” But if you will believe and stay in faith, and expect good things, you too can defy the odds.  God holds your victory!

May 10, 2017

But the Lord is faithful and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. 2 Thessalonians 3:3 (NIV)

God is faithful to us and faithful to His Word!  We have no need to fear the enemy or his plots and schemes.  Rest in the Lord and be safe!

May 11, 2017

Who is a God like you, who pardons sin and forgives the transgression of the remnant of His inheritance? You do not stay angry forever but delight to show mercy.  Micah 7:18 (NIV)

Take the pressure off yourself; give yourself the right to have some weaknesses.  When you make a mistake, don’t sit around guilty for two or three weeks. Immediately go to God and say, “Father, I’m sorry. I repent. Help me to do better next time.” After this, receive God’s forgiveness and mercy and go on with your life!

May 12, 2017

The LORD will not forsake His people for His great name’s sake, for it has pleased Him to make you a people for Himself. 1 Samuel 12:22 (AMP)

Understand, you can’t give away what you don’t have. If you don’t love yourself, you’re not going to be able to love others. If you’re at war with yourself on the inside, feeling angry or insecure about yourself, feeling unattractive, feeling condemned, then that’s all you can give away.

On the other hand, if you’ll recognize that God is working on you, in spite of your flaws and weaknesses, you can learn to accept   and love yourself. Then you can give that love away and have healthy relationships!

May 13, 2017

Such confidence as this is ours through Christ before God. Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.

2 Corinthians 3:4-5 (NIV)

Wake up every morning, no matter what your circumstances look like, and say, “This is the day the Lord has made. I’m going to enjoy it. I’m going to be happy today.  I'm going to be successful today” Speak that out by faith. Believe the Word of God!  Speak the Word of God and prosper in all you do!

May 14, 2017

Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still holds and is offered [today], let us be afraid [to distrust it], lest any of you should think he has come too late and has come short of [reaching] it. Hebrews 4:1 (AMP)

God created you to feel good about yourself. He created you to feel complete, to feel whole, to be confident and secure. Not to constantly be against yourself. It is never too late to change and be all God has called you to be!  His rest is available!

May 15, 2017

This I recall to my mind, Therefore, I have hope. The LORD’S loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. Lamentations 3:21, 22 (NASB)

A lot of times, we are waiting for God to do something. “God, just give it to me on a silver platter.” But we must do our part by making preparations. Do some research, sow some seeds, and then stay expectant. What if you do this and it still doesn't happen the way you want it to?  You're still better off to live your life in a positive and hopeful manner!

May 16, 2017

The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. Psalm 23:1 (NIV)

Trust and believe! In God there is no need, no lack and no want!

May 17, 2017

You have made known to me the paths of life; You will fill me with joy in Your presence. Acts 2:28 (NIV)

We need to recognize that every day is a gift from God. Live with joy as you bask in His Glory!

May 18, 2017

In your anger do not sin: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry…Ephesians 4:26 (NIV)

The Bible tells us “to be angry and sin not.” We know that, at times, we’re going to get angry. Anger is an emotion God built into us. But we don’t have to blow up and say hurtful things that are going to damage our relationships. Learn to take a step back, collect your thoughts, and think about what you want to say.  Your words have creative power. So we must be careful what we speak.

May 19, 2017

I, even I, am He who blots out your transgressions, for My own sake, and remembers your sins no more. Isaiah 43:25 (NIV)

Your heavenly Father is not looking for ways to condemn you or to chew you out. He stands before you with His arms held open wide. If you are far from where you know you ought to be, you need to know that God is waiting for you, and the moment you take one step toward Him, your Father will come running to you!

May 20, 2017

For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations. Psalm 100:5 (NIV)

Get up every day and give it your best effort. If you will do that, not only will you rise higher and accomplish more, but God has promised that your seed, up to a thousand generations, is going to have the blessings and the favor of God - all because of the life that you’ve lived!

May 21, 2017

The LORD will fulfill His purpose for me; Your love, O LORD, endures forever – do not abandon the works of Your hands. Psalm 138:8 (NIV)

God designed you as you are on purpose. You are an original. Quit being negative and critical toward yourself and start enjoying yourself as the unique creation of God that you are!

May 22, 2017

For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more. Jeremiah 31:34 (NIV)

If you’ve made mistakes, know this: God is the God of a second chance, a third chance, a fourth, and more …. God wants to give you a new beginning!  Accept it!

May 23, 2017

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. Proverbs 31:11 (NIV)

Human beings respond to praise, admiration, and appreciation. Husbands and wives should be each other’s greatest cheerleaders. Take time to praise your wife. Take time to compliment your husband. Daily!!!

May 24, 2017

God, who has called you into fellowship with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, is faithful. 1 Corinthians 1:9 (NIV)

Start preparing for good things; prepare for success, prepare for abundance. Prepare for victory. Prepare for a long life. Prepare for good health. Get your faith going in the right direction. Start making plans to live a blessed, prosperous, healthy, joy-filled, abundant, long life. If you do this, God will do more than you can even ask or think. He will pour out his blessings and favor and you will become a much better you.

May 25, 2017

All your children will be taught by the LORD, and great will be their peace. Isaiah 54:13 (NIV)

If we don’t tell our children who they are, somebody else will. Tell your children: “You’ve got what it takes. There’s nothing you can’t do. We are behind you. We’re proud of you. We believe in you. You are destined to do great things.” Speak words of blessing over your children. Speak victory over their lives. They need your encouragement. They need your approval. Help them to have a big vision for their lives!

May 26, 2017

The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor. Proverbs 15:33 (NIV)

Do your best to create an atmosphere of peace and unity in your home. When you’re tempted to pop off and say hurtful, critical, counterproductive things that you know you shouldn’t, take a deep breath, pause about ten seconds, and think about what you’re going to say before you speak. Words can cut like a knife. God's Wisdom teaches us to speak only what is good and edifying to others!

May 27, 2017

Fear not, for you will not be put to shame; And do not feel humiliated, for you will not be disgraced; But you will forget the shame of your youth, And the reproach of your widowhood you will remember no more.  Isaiah 54:4 (NASB)

Learn to put on a new recording.  Tell yourself: “I am forgiven. I am restored. God has a new plan and a new purpose for me. Good things are in store.” Rise up! Start talking to yourself in a positive way!

May 28, 2017

And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. Romans 8:28 (NASB)

If we can only stay in an attitude of faith, God will cause every situation to work for our good!

May 28, 2017

If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. John 15:7 (NASB)

If you want to become a better you, it’s not enough to just believe, as important as that may be. We have to take it one step further and start expecting. And while we are expecting good things from God, we should be making plans. We need to talk as if what we are praying about will come to pass!  We should dare to step out in faith and act like it’s going to happen!

May 29, 2017

Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle’s [strong, overcoming, soaring}!

Psalm 103:5 (AMP)

Old is a state of mind. Your body may age, but if you’ll speak God's Word so that you stay young in your spirit, your body will age even better and your youth will be renewed!

May 30, 2017

I have no greater joy than to hear that My children are walking in the truth. 3 John 1:4 (NIV)

Every right decision we make, every time we resist temptation, every time we do the right thing, we come up higher ourselves, we make it a little easier on the generations that will come after us, and we please God!

May 31, 2017

I ask that we love one another. 2 John 1:5 (NIV)

The Scripture says people will know us by our fruit. They’re not going to know us by how many verses of Scripture we quote. They won’t know us by how many bumper stickers we have on our cars. People are really going to know that we’re believers when we meet real needs with good works and love!
